MITSUI O.S.K. PASSENGER LINE (MOPAS) Mitsui O.S.K. Passenger Line (商船三井客船) is a Japanese cruise line operated by the shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL). Established in 1884, it has operated cruise and liner services for more than a century. Currently it operates two small-sized cruise ships that offers voyages for the domestic market. Nippon Maru (にっぽん丸) is the third ship in the company that bears this name. It entered service in 1990 and received the most intensive refurbishment in 2010 in which the hull was changed from white to deep blue. The ship usually operates short, local cruises departed from various ports of Japan, such as Yokohama and Kobe, whereas world cruises and longer voyages to South Pacific or Southeast Asia are also organized.

Slightly larger and older than her close
sister Nippon Maru, Fuji Maru (ふじ丸) is a ship jointly owned by
MOPAS and Nippon Charter Cruise. Most of the cruises of Fuji Maru are
chartered by different travel agencies or private groups for incentive
travel, so that the itineraries can be self-arranged and visit some small
ports. Sometimes it sails on voyages for educational purposes that visit a
number of Asian countries with exchange programmes. |
