Christened | 2011 May 21st (by Shirley Bassey) |
Adonia is the second ship in P&O history to bear this name. She was the original R Eight which was the last of 8 sisters of the now-defunct Renaissance Cruises, former Minerva II of Swan Hellenic and Royal Princess <II> of Princess Cruises. Eventually she joined P&O Cruises in 2011 to become the smallest ship in the fleet. Carrying just 710 passengers, Adonia is exclusively for adults and radiates small ship charm. With wood-style panelling, a grand staircase and traditional artworks, her ambience and decor are in keeping with the traditions of cruising. There is also modernity to her detailing as being a 21st century ship, all of which is beautifully crafted. Major features of Adonia include the well-known Crow's Nest lounge and Anderson's bar, the grand Curzon Lounge, library, card room, shops, photo gallery, spa, salon, gymnasium, golf net, two pools and two whirlpool spas. Restaurants include The Pacific Restaurant for Club Dining, The Conservatory for buffet, and two Select Dining Options which are Sorrento and Ocean Grill by Marco Pierre White. There are also the Lido Café, and bars such as Pool Bar and Raffles. Adonia's voyages appeal to adult passengers who enjoy a traditional cruising atmosphere, a more intimate ship, lesser-visited destinations and more cultural experience. She sails to the Mediterranean and Baltic in summer, and has departures to the Caribbean in winter. World Cruises and Grand Voyages are offered in spring. |
