2006 March 12th (as Amadea)

Amadea was built in 1991 as Asuka for Asuka Cruise, the largest cruise ship ever constructed in Japan at that time. Specially designed for the Japanese market, she was the most luxurious ship in Asia for many years. In 2006 she was sold to Phoenix Reisen and renamed Amadea. After refurbishing in the shipyard in Yokohama, she sailed to Europe and started cruising for German passengers.

The ship is a more upscale and contemporary vessel compared to other ships in the Phoenix Reisen fleet. Carrying only about 600 passengers, she provides a spacious and exclusive feeling. There are good amount of open decks and plenty of intimate public rooms onboard. The interior decor is elegant with the use of pleasing colours and soft furnishings. In addition, many Japanese artwork is featured in the staircases and hallways. She is suitable for German passengers who want to have a cruise holiday on a modern ship with casual style, comfortable surroundings and attentive services.

Being the flagship of Phoenix Reisen, Amadea offers sailings which depart from Bremerhaven, Hamburg or Kiel in summer. World cruises are organized in winter every year which typically last for over 100 days. Major facilities onboard include two restaurants, lounges and bars, cinema, library, outdoor pool, golf court, gymnasium and spa, in which all of them offer a wide variety of activities every day.
