REVIEW (ABOUT THE ACCOMMODATION)

In this cruise, our cabin is an Oceanview Stateroom (P206, Category EE) located at the port side and forward of Plaza Deck 5. If you would like to have a cabin with the view of the ocean but not necessary to be accompanied with a private balcony, then the outside staterooms at lower decks would be your budget choice.

The cabin categories on every Grand Class ships are generally the same. Even passengers choose the smallest inside staterooms, they can have a comfortable living accommodation throughout the cruise. Each cabin has two lower beds, bathroom with shower, walk-in closet, refrigerator, television, telephone, safe, hairdryer and bathroom amenities, and fresh fruit by request. More luxurious cabins, such as the suites, may in addition have a separate sitting area, sofa bed, bathtub in bathroom, more closet space, and also a butler that provides more premium services.

The interior design is quite pleasant, with warm colours and soft furnishings. For all the inside and oceanview cabins, the large vanity desk with mirror directly faces the two double beds, which is not so common on other cruise ships. This arrangement provides more space in the cabin. Another good design is the wide, walk-in closet without doors. Many clothing can be hanged here and even the luggage can be stored below.

However, no thermal kettle is provided in the cabin which proved to be an inconvenience. No coffee and tea sachets are placed on the desk either. If you feel thirsty in the cabin, you would have to go out to the buffet restaurant to have a drink.

Since our cabin is situated at the very forward of the deck, we had to walk for quite a long distance to reach the staircase every time. But the biggest disadvantage of this cabin is the disturbance from the machineries from lower decks. We were often awaken by the noises from the anchors when the ship docked in the early morning. Moreover, the vibration is significant when the ship just started to sail in her departures.

The service by the Indonesian cabin steward was reliable. Our stateroom was kept in a clean condition throughout the whole voyage. He came in twice daily and worked well to tidy up everything in the room. When we need assistance, he could be contacted easily and would arrive soon to help with our requests.
