GOLDEN PRINCESS 7-NIGHT CRUISE
Alaska is the one of the most
fascinating travel destinations in the world. Located at the northwest end
of North America, it is the largest state of US and is completed bounded by
Canada. With only a mere of around 700000 residents, much land in the state
is wilderness. There is much natural environment that has not been modified
by human activities, including 16 national parks, over 3000 rivers, 3
million lakes and large area of forests.
Having over 100000 glaciers
and an extremely wide variety of wildlife, Alaska draw many visitors from
all over the world. Most of them come by cruise ships. Every year from May
to September, a lot of cruise ships from major cruise lines operate several
itineraries in Alaska. They are usually in two major types: the roundtrip
cruise from Seattle or Vancouver, or the northbound/southbound route between
Vancouver and Anchorage. Among these companies, Princess Cruises is the most
successful one in the region. Eight ships in the fleet are deployed here
every year. They also operate many local tours by themselves.
In August, I was honoured to
be invited by Cruise Vacations Limited (the General Sale Agency of Princess
Cruises in Hong Kong) to have a familiarization trip on Golden Princess
to Alaska. Being my first time to travel to North America, the 7-night
roundtrip cruise from Seattle provided me to sail on a Grand Class ship, and
also visit many breathtaking ports with fabulous scenery. The following
sections will show you more details about the ship and the places I have
been to.
